You may need to take ownership of the folders if you are denied access at first. Once you can see the partition as a drive letter in File Explorer, the files you want will be in the Users\\ folder (where is the name of the user account you used on the old PC) probably in Users\\Documents or maybe Users\\Desktop. If there is no drive letter for the partition, right-click on it and you can give it one. In order to see that partition in File Explorer it has to have a drive letter assigned to it. In the pop-up window, select one way to create bootable media (Here choose USB Boot Device ). Click Make Bootable Media and click Next. Install and run AOMEI Partition Assistant. This is the one that will have the files you are looking for. Connect the USB drive to your computer and make sure it can be detected by your PC. The largest one is likely to be the one that was the C: drive on the old PC. You will see a number of partitions on the drive. When you say you can 'see' the drive what do you 'see' it in? Open Disk Management. I can see the drive, but since it is a bootable drive, I cannot get to individual files.Being a bootable drive should not stop you accessing the files when you have it in an external enclosure connected to another PC.
